What is it? Biologically active chromium is a trace element that is a required nutrient in our diets and is necessary for the proper function of insulin. During the early 60's world renowned researcher Dr. Walter Mertz discovered that only a certain type of chromium was well absorbed and affected insulin's action. He named the action Glucose Tolerance Factor (GTF) and identified the vitamin niacin as the nutrient that made it biologically active.
What is it? Bee Caps Plus contains a patented form of chromium polynicotinate - that is, chromium bound to nicotinic acid (a form of niacin) Note that it does not contain nicotine!
What does it do? Without biologically active chromium, or GTF, insulin cannot perform its duties, and it has a lot of duties. Insulin is involved in protein, fat, and carbohydrate metabolism. It helps to regulate the appetite. curb sugar and carbohydrate cravings, and enhances the body's ability to burn calories. Insulin prevents the breakdown of lean body tissue and enhances thyroid function. But it can do none of this without biologically active chromium.
What's so special about the chromium in Bee Caps Plus? Chromium is found in brewers yeast, black pepper, liver, and wheat germ. But the richest source, brewers yeast, contains only 2-3 micro grams of chromium per gram and only 10% of this is biologically active. Other Supplemental forms of chromium are simply not as affective as Bee Caps Plus. Some contain large amounts of inorganic chromium salts, Which are not in the form your body can use and may even be slightly toxic if ingested over a extended period of time. Dr. Mertz found that chromium bound to nicotinic acid is as affected as pure GTF in activating insulin. But chromium bound to niacin isomers (such as picolinic acid) is ineffective at activating insulin. Niacin can be bound to chromium in numerous ways. Independent studies show that Bee Caps Plus is eighteen times more effective than similar compounds.
